Janelle Bair - The Expert
Background and Experience
Janelle Bair comes from the rural community of Burley, Idaho. Her parents claim that she has been involved in genealogy since she was a toddler, but she believes that her interest in genealogy began when she was a pre-teen. During the summer months, she spent a few weeks with her grandparents. Both of her grandmothers were avid genealogists and Janelle's job was to help them rewind the microfilms. She also spent countless hours listening to them tell her the family stories and folklore. She enjoyed listening to their stories and was inspired to begin her own research when she was 16. As college freshman, she was delighted to find out that she could make one of her most beloved hobbies her major and career.
Janelle graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Family History-Genealogy. Her specialty is American and German research.
While Janelle was a student she was employed at the Utah Valley Regional Family History Center. This job gave her the opportunity of helping and teaching others about genealogical research. Since graduation Janelle has spent her time doing professional research.
Janelle has spent a year in Germany and developed a great love for the Germans as well as their language and culture.
Janelle's other hobbies include reading, cross-stitching, scrapbooking, playing the violin and viola, as well as visiting with friends and family.
